Ingredients

  • 1 12oz. can tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoon spicy mustard
  • 2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce (anchovy free)
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder (optional)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoon turbinado sugar
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, mix together all of the ingredients.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Serve immediately or store in an airtight glass container.

Notes

If you like you can freeze the sauce in 1/2 or 1 cup batches in freezer zip bags.
